My First Visit To The Garage
Garage Beer Co. - Pacific Split - IPA - 7% ABV
~
Amazingly, this is my first foray into what Garage Beer Co have got going on. A well established craft brewery outfit and city centre bar since 2013, they have had a solid reputation for putting out great beers for some time now from their home in Barcelona, while embarking on a string of collaborations with big name craft breweries from across the world. Now, I don’t come across them too often here in Sheffield while on my bottle shop hunts, but this distinctive artwork jumped out at me recently while perusing the fridges at The Bear Beer Emporium, so I picked one up, keen to find out what I’d been missing out on..
Pacific split comes loaded with some of the freshest New Zealand hop offerings - specifically Nelson Sauvin and Motueka. Both are generously aromatic and juicy, and are complimented here with an addition of Citra to round out the bold hop profile, and provide a greater depth of flavour - it’s fair to say the Nelson shines brightest.
Aromas of gooseberry, passion fruit, peach and lychee, are in abundance, and are indicative of New Zealand hop varieties.
A zesty medley of flavour feels fresh and vibrant. Tastes of lime, passion fruit, sweet tangerine and tinned peaches, are blended with sharper notes of gooseberry, white grape and grapefruit - bringing with it a lingering bitterness.
Nice feel to the body, with a tight white head and zippy carbonation.
Overall, a welcoming and long overdue introduction to @garagebeerco
